Obituary
Norah Grace Brubaker, 10, of Harrisonburg, passed away on Friday April 19, 2019 at the University of Virginia Medical Center after a sudden illness and three weeks in critical care.
Norah Grace was born on May 18, 2008 in Harrisonburg to Eric Stephen and Margaret “Peggy” Sterling Brubaker. In addition to her parents, Norah is survived by her sister, Lydia Hope Brubaker; grandparents, Dennis and Alice Brubaker of Harrisonburg, Charles Sterling and Rev. Dr. Sue Shorb-Sterling of Brookeville, MD; great-grandmother, Charlotte Gehr of Westminster, MD. She is also survived by her aunts and uncles: Michael and Angela Brubaker, Daryl and Rebekah Brubaker, Deanna Brubaker, George Sterling, and Chris and Jennifer Sterling, along with her cousins: Thatcher and Everett Brubaker, Sarah and Ashley Sterling, and Isaac Brubaker. Each and every family member was special to her.
Norah was in the fifth grade at Linville-Edom Elementary School where she had the lead in the Christmas play this past year. She was inquisitive, an avid reader, and a source for all kinds of information. In addition, Norah was musically talented both vocally and instrumentally. She sang in the Treble Choir of the Shenandoah Valley Children’s Choir and played the violin. Norah performed as a fiddle player each year since 2015 with the Red Wing Academy during the Red Wing Roots Music Festival. She made friends easily and had many friends from each area of her life. Norah also loved animals, especially dogs, chickens, and dolphins. She aspired to become a marine biologist so she could preserve marine life on our planet.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at 3:00 P.M. at Park View Mennonite Church with Revs. Phil Kniss and Moriah Hurst officiating.
