Introducing Park View Mennonite Church to college students
We love being down-the-street neighbors of EMU!
We are located just four easy, walkable blocks north of campus on College Ave.
But did you know, that back in the day, before 1968, Park View met on campus and was the official “Campus Church” of EMU? So we have a long history of caring about and supporting college students, staff, and faculty, and their spiritual life.
What is our worship like?
We try to plan worship that touches God and touches our real and everyday lives in a complicated world. Worship is not an escape! It is meant to ground us and strengthen us in our identity as children of God.

What is our worship like?
We try to plan worship that touches God and touches our real and everyday lives in a complicated world. Worship is not an escape! It is meant to ground us and strengthen us in our identity as children of God.
- We bring all of who are into worship -- mind, body, spirit, and emotion.
- We strive to be honest with ourselves, real with each other, and open to God.
- We draw from the rich resources of historic liturgy, as well as lively forms of worship from other cultures and worldwide faith communities.
- Our worship is steeped in scripture.
- We value full-voiced and often four-part congregational singing. We utilize pipe organ, piano, guitars, and many other instruments to enhance our singing and musical life.
- We use our new denominational hymnal, Voices Together.
- We value the participation of all. If you have gifts you want to share, please let us know about them!
Who are our pastors?
- Phil Kniss is our senior pastor. A graduate of EMU and seminary, he has been on pastoral staff since 1996.
- Moriah Hurst is our nurture and faith development pastor. A graduate of Goshen College and AMBS, Moriah has been on pastoral staff since 2016, focusing mostly on young people. She is an "affiliate" on EMU campus with the Office of Faith and Spiritual Life.
- Paula Stoltzfus is our care and formation pastor. A graduate of EMU and seminary, Paula has been with PVMC since 2018, and focuses primarily on pastoral care and supporting community-building initiatives.
How can you get involved?
If all you are able to do is occasionally attend, and participate in worship from where you are, that's fine!
But if you enjoy helping out, like reading scripture, playing an instrument, singing in an ensemble, or contributing in some other way, please let us know! We'd love to give you a space for trying out your gifts or developing your leadership skills.
