Pauline Kate Zehr Myers, 90, died peacefully in her home in Harrisonburg, VA on July 20, 2025.
She was born October 18, 1934 in Martinsburg, NY, and attended Eastern Mennonite School where she met Homer Myers, whom she married on August 28, 1954. They had five children. In addition to her work as a homemaker, Pauline worked for many years in food services at Lewis County General Hospital in Lowville, NY. She loved to work with her hands, especially in refinishing furniture and producing fabric arts and crafts. She began her own business, Katie’s Crafts selling toys, dolls, and other crafts she made. In her retirement years, she occupied herself by sewing school and hygiene kit bags and making quilt and comforter tops for international relief efforts. Most of her work was donated to Mennonite Central Committee. Over the last seven years alone, she produced more than 10,000 kit bags and hundreds of quilts/comforters. She and Homer (who passed away in 2014) loved to travel, visiting Europe, Kenya, Vietnam, Egypt, Israel, Mexico, Costa Rica, Canada, and places throughout the U.S. They retired to Virginia in 2005, and were members at Park View Mennonite Church. She is survived by her five children – Rosalyn Kniss and husband Fred, Harrisonburg, VA; Mervin Myers and wife Doris, Blountstown, FL; Daryl Myers and wife Marcia, Harrisonburg; Gary Myers and wife Joleen, Harrisonburg; and Jeffry Myers and wife Audrey, Norfolk, VA; twelve grandchildren – Michael Kniss and wife Ashley, Stephen Kniss and wife Monica, Bradley Myers and wife Kimberly, Nicholas Myers and wife Cynthia, Jessica Fitzgerald and husband Eric, Kristen Berkey and husband Seth, Emily Suttles and husband Seth, Jacob Myers and wife Sapa, Aaron Myers and wife Casey, Lorien Myers, Corin Myers, and Maira Myers; and great grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Mennonite Central Committee, 21 South 12th Street, P.O. Box 500, Akron, PA 17501, www.mcc.org or to Adirondack Mennonite Camping Association (Beaver Camp), 8884 Buck Point Road, Lowville, NY 13367. |
