ark View Mennonite Church was founded in 1953 at Eastern Mennonite College as the campus church. For many years, leadership was shared between the "college pastor" and the "congregational pastor." PVMC later became independent of the college, and in 1968 built its own facility several blocks north of campus. Its first full-time pastor was hired in 1980. A major building expansion happened in 1995, when a new sanctuary was built, with additional Sunday School classrooms and fellowship space. While the church has undergone many changes over the years, it has always been known for its strong music program, and strong ties to Mennonite education and international missions, while attempting to provide a relevant Christian witness to the local Harrisonburg community.
