Go therefore and make disciples of all nations,
Women: baptizing them in the name of the Father

If you carpooled, biked, or walked to church today, as suggested, donations in the amount you saved in gas (or any additional) can be sent to Virginia Mennonite Conference (ATTN: “on the way together”), 901 Parkwood Dr., Harrisonburg, VA 22802. Further details on flier you received earlier.
More funds are needed to cover the Highland A-frame extreme makeover last weekend (see inView article). If you would like to help with this project, write your check to PVMC and mark it for “Highland cabin makeover.”
Thank you for the good contributions last Sunday for the faith promise offering. However, funds are still tight, with about $15,000 additional needed to cover checks needing to be mailed this week.
November 5, 9 a.m., is Guest Day for Mennonite Women in the Fellowship Hall. If you are not a regular attender of MW, you are invited. Hero Brzw, a student in the Center for Peacebuilding at EMU, will be the speaker at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary. Hero is from Suleimanyah, Iraq. As a social field worker in the villages of Iraq she often distributed MCC comforters and kits and is looking forward to this opportunity. A noon meal will follow the meeting. You are welcome to attend.
The Developing Countries Capital Project is open for ideas of churches in the third world that need help for a church building. Please contact Kathryn Fairfield at 828-6785 or at Kathryn.Fairfield@gmail.com before October 20.
Thank you for your weekly support of Patchwork Pantry; place items in the bins at entries and foyer. Items needed most are peanut butter, jelly, tuna, canned fruit, boxed macaroni & cheese dinners, canned one-dish meals, bar bath soap, shampoo (small/med). Cash gifts also welcome, since they need to purchase $200 of food each week to supplement donations. Write check to “Patchwork Pantry,” place in envelope marked for the pantry, and place in office mailbox.
The 3rd annual Habitat for Humanity house build by area Mennonite churches has been set. A family is chosen, and the house will be at 680 E. Rock Street. PVMCers are needed especially on Saturday, Oct. 25, when Sam Petersheim will coordinate completion of the roof of the home. We also need people to coordinate food for this day. Contact Pastor Ross Erb for more info.
Arlene Eshleman, wife of former pastor Harold Eshleman, passed away October 1 in Elkhart, Indiana. A memorial service is planned for October 18, 4 p.m. at Harrisonburg Mennonite Church, with family visitation to follow.
For information about MMA counseling in basic budgeting, consumer debt consolidation, etc., see flyers below mailboxes.
Mennonite World Conference Assembly XV is July 14-19, 2009 in Asunción, Paraguay. A copy of registration materials is on the foyer table. The same information is also available at www.mwc-cmm.org.
